Oaxaca Day of the Dead Tour

Experience the history, food, warmth and culture of Oaxaca this October/November….only 6 spots left!
Yellow mole from local cafes is just one of the delicious Oaxaca food experiences.

This small group trip (maximum 12 people) will be filled with options for local Oaxaca food, history, and culture experiences including:

  • Local Day of the Dead festivals
  • Oaxaca cooking made real as we learn to make ethnic foods
  • Evenings seeing the traditions close up
  • All kinds of crafts and art including wool weavers
  • The incredible foods nd eateries of Oaxaca- including chocolate and mole
  • Brews of the area from pulque to mescal
  • Much more as we amble about the area in this enchanting holiday season

The trip begins and ends in Oaxaca City (OAX) (except for those choosing the Puebla addon-this trip begins at MEX and ends at OAX), so make your reservations to arrive there Oct 29 and leave November 5. See the add on itinerary for those arrival dates.

Note: You can arrive early if you want and of course stay late…in either Oaxaca or Mexico City. We can connect you to the hotels we are using or suggest others.

Special note: For those who want, we have an option to arrive in Mexico City(MEX) early and include Mexico City and Puebla City in your trip. Several have opted for this already. This makes your flight a bit cheaper and I can send you that itinerary. Note that we have altered it a bit to include three nights in Puebla. For those who want to experience Mexico City, you can arrive there early or stay there at the end of the trip. I will be glad to recommend hotels, local guides. etc.

Then at the end of the Oaxaca trip you can return from the Oaxaca airport to Mexico City (MEX) and then back to the USA. So if you choose this option, it may be easiest to do a round trip to MEX and then purchase a ticket from OAX to MEX for the 5th. AeroMexico is a good option. Just be aware that at MEX you will be changing terminals and boarding and international flight-so leave at least 2 hours to make this transition at MEX.

Included meals are noted on the itinerary.

Includes all transport from and back to the Oaxaca airport(from MEX and to OAX for those choosing the add on), guide, entrance fees, cooking class in Oaxaca, ingredients for altar.

Does not include alcohol, tips and miscellaneous personal expenses.

We will supply a list of what to bring and money needs you may have on the trip.

  1. […] to Mexico last fall, one of my favorite “meals” was the night we had pickled carrots in Oaxaca City.  The day had been full, beginning with a long run (Dave)/walk-run (me) through the streets and up […]
