When is the best time to go to the Monarch Reserves?

The monarchs are usually present in Mexico at the reserves from sometime in November through sometime in March. The best time to see them active (like not just in the trees hanging there) is late February into the first week of March.

How many reserves should one visit?

Usually we take people to two–depending on weather and other trip priorities–every trip varies. Sometime a good visit to one reserve makes the trip for people.

What are the hotels near the reserves like?

The hotels are in a little town called Angangueo. They are basic and can be cold at night.

How far are the monarch reserves from Mexico City?

Drive time from the México City airport to the reserves is about 4 hours depending on traffic.
